A former World Court Judge of the Hague, Prince
Bola Ajibola, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday,
described the reduction in salaries of some state
governors and slash in allowances of members of
the National Assembly as nothing but “cosmetic and
window dressing” issue.
Ajibola, one of the guests at a Ramadan lecture
organised by the Islamic Mission of Africa (IMA),
also urged the Federal Government to urgently
address the parlous state of the nation’s financial
situation, so as not to esclate inflation rate.
The former Attorney General and Minister of Justice
insisted that there should be drastic reduction in
spending by state governors and NASS members, to
salvage the country from the current financial crisis
it was experiencing.
Ajibola said the so-called cut and reduction in
salaries and jumbo allowances was not in anyway
enough to address the financial crisis.
“It is not enough, they are just still scratching it. It is
cosmetic and window-dressing. They should reduce
the whole thing drastically and whether they like it
or not, it’s bound to come,” he said.
